Where to Run and Play

Bloomingdale offers wonderful, easy access to parks and recreation, making it easy to enjoy the outdoors right in the city. At the heart of the neighborhood is Crispus Attucks Park, a resident-run nonprofit space that hosts annual community events. Additional neighborhood favorites like Reservoir District Park and Recreation Center and The Park at LeDroit—home to Common Good City Farm— allow for kids, dogs, and neighbors to relax, play, and get fresh air.

Crispus Attucks

Crispus Attucks Park is the heart of Bloomingdale, a hidden green space tucked behind the neighborhood’s rowhomes and maintained by a dedicated resident-run nonprofit. It serves as a true community hub, hosting annual gatherings while also offering neighbors a day-to-day oasis.

Reservoir District Park

Reservoir District Park offers a versatile open space perfect for everyday recreation. Perched overlooking the McMillan Reservoir it features a large playground

The Park at LeDroit

The Park at LeDroit is a multi-use green space offering something for everyone, from a dedicated dog park to a playground and splash pad. It’s also home to a community garden and the Common Good City Farm.

Recreation

Reservoir District Recreation Center

Opened in 2024 it offers an indoor pool, fitness rooms, and flexible community spaces used for neighborhood programming and available for private rentals. Best of all, access is free for DC residents.

Harry Thomas Sr. Recreation Center

Offers a well-rounded outdoor space for recreation, featuring a large pool with lap lanes and a separate kiddie pool, as well as tennis courts, a basketball court, and a playground. Located along Lincoln Avenue in nearby Eckington.

Metropoliatan Branch Trail

Metropolitan Branch Trail (MBT) is a bike and walking path that makes it easy to get around the city while enjoying the outdoors. In total, the trail stretches approximately 8 miles, connecting Union Station to Silver Spring, MD. It is an easy way for residents to get to Union Market and the Metro.
